How to Jump-Start in 5 Steps

Check your vehicle owner's manual first.

1. Switch off both vehicles and unnecessary accessories.
2. Connect red to the dead battery's positive (+), then the other red to the working battery's positive (+).
3. Connect black to the working battery's negative (−), then the other black to unpainted metal on the disabled vehicle, away from the battery.
4. Start the working vehicle, then start the disabled one.
5. Once running, remove the clamps in reverse order.
